“Our task is not only to keep the Ukrainian economy alive and to build back better than before the full-scale invasion, but also to have a long-term perspective — to develop it on really new grounds, with the involvement of the best international expertise and the most effective instruments,” emphasized Secretary of the Economic Security Council of Ukraine (ESCU) Ilona Khmeleva at the Ukraine Economic Investment Forum in London, where she took part in the discussion “How Ukraine’s prosperity becomes Europe’s security shield.”

“On the other hand, I think that destroying a little bit the Russian economy as much as we can is also part of security guarantees for Ukraine, so I may say that building a strong Ukrainian economy is impossible without making the Russian economy weaker,” added the ESCU Secretary.

The Ukraine Economic Investment Forum is part of the second annual Ukraine Freedom Summit 2025. This international platform brings together political leaders, investors, and business to accelerate Ukraine’s victory, support its veterans, and lay the foundation for large-scale post-war reconstruction of the country.
