Russia is undertaking a major modernization of its nuclear infrastructure near EU borders. Journalists from Spiegel and investigators from Bellingcat confirmed activity at strategic military sites in Kaliningrad, Belarus, and on the Kola Peninsula. Satellite imagery revealed new storage facilities for tactical nuclear weapons, rapid-delivery systems, and enhanced security measures—particularly at the Olenya Air Base in northern Russia, which may store nuclear armaments for the submarine fleet.
Canada has introduced its largest sanctions package since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, targeting 53 individuals and 11 entities. Those sanctioned include operators of Russia’s “shadow fleet,” representatives from the energy sector, IT companies, defense enterprises, media organizations, and Putin's former wife, Lyudmila Ocheretnaya.
Australia and New Zealand have jointly imposed sanctions on dozens of tankers involved in Russia’s “shadow fleet,” closed their ports to Russian ships, and prohibited cooperation with Russian defense enterprises and their allies—Iran, North Korea, and Belarus.
